Hot Cocoa

It is winter and I love snowy weather, cold days and yummy Hot Cocoa. So do all my wonderful friends. Dazzle the Dragon loves to add extra marshmallows.

I love a cup of instant hot chocolate because it is easy and fast. But sometimes I like to take my time and make a pot of Hot Cocoa to share with Dazzle and Olly.

Here is my favorite Hot Cocoa recipe:

Hot Cocoa Recipe

• 1/3 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder

• ¾ cup Granulated Sugar

• 1 pinch salt

• ½ cup Chocolate- Chips, chunks or shavings

• 3 ½ cups milk (I prefer whole milk for hot cocoa)

• 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

In a dry saucepan warm the milk slowly.

While milk is warming, whisk together dry ingredients, cocoa powder, sugar and salt. Add slowly to warm milk, stirring continuously.

When blended, add in chocolate until melted. Keep stirring so milk does not boil.

Remove from heat and add vanilla.

Now pour into mugs and add your favorite topping:

• Cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger- pumpkin spices stirred in.-My favorite.

• Whipped cream floating on top - Dazzle’s favorite.

• Marshmallows floating on top- Olly’s favorite.

You can also add a Peppermint stick or cinnamon stick to stir.
